On the 7th of December 2012, Emma Faramarzi, Chair of the Swindon Branch of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), was joined by Justin Tomlinson MP, Robert Buckland MP and Swindon Council Leader Cllr Rod Bluh for a successful Christmas shopping trip in Swindon to highlight the FSB’s Keep Trade Local Campaign.

Justin Tomlinson MP (North Swindon) said, “As a former small business owner in Swindon myself, I know how important it is to support local traders. It is essential that we support our local high streets, which is key both to our future town centre regeneration plans and crucial in providing local employment”.

Robert Buckland MP (South Swindon) said, “I’m delighted to support out town centre and particularly our smaller, independent retailers. We’ve had some encouraging figures about business in Swindon recently, and I hope this continues throughout the Christmas shopping period and beyond”.

Emma Faramarzi said, “I was delighted to go shopping with Robert, Justin and Rod locally this Christmas. While we were in the town centre, Robert booked his clock in for repair at the jewellers and we managed to grab a bite to eat at Eggilicious, which was a welcome change to the usual chain coffee shops. It just goes to show that there are many wonderful places to shop in Swindon this Christmas. It is important that we were able to show our support for local businesses, particularly the small independent retailers, and we all encourage other shoppers to do the same.”

Alison Herbert, FSB Development Manager for Somerset & Wiltshire, said, “We are thrilled that local MPs Justin and Robert were able to join Rod and Emma on this trip in Swindon, to show their support for local small businesses. It is vital that people Keep Trade Local throughout the year and we are grateful that our guest shoppers helped us to spread this message”.
