With the country increasingly reliant on the private sector to create growth in the economy, the new Barclays business event in Swindon could not have come at a better time.
21 local businesses attended a business seminar on Friday to hear first hand from local MP Justin Tomlinson and Managing Director of The Directors Centre and business guru Robert Craven.
Justin Tomlinson MP shared his thoughts with the audience on the forthcoming budget, as well as his background in running a small business prior to being elected last year as MP for Swindon North, and said: "I was delighted to support this excellent business forum helping local businesses build on their entrepreneurship flare and business drive helping our local economy create new jobs and opportunities."
Steve Childs, Regional Business Director, Barclays Business, South West, added: "Local businesses are the backbone of Britain's economy and it's important to support the ongoing efforts of Swindon local businesses in such challenging market conditions. This was a great event which included for the first time in the country, a presentation and Q&A session from a local MP. The audience also received some useful top tips on how to drive business forward during a lively interactive session from business guru, Robert Craven."
The session took place on the Barclays Take One Small Step presentation suite which is touring the country providing a venue for community and business events and acting as an interactive training hub for Barclays employees.
