Joining South Swindon colleague, Robert Buckland MP, and representatives from businesses across Swindon, Justin addressed a breakfast meeting of the local branch of the Chamber of Commerce.
The breakfast was a chance for both Justin and Robert to reflect on the UK economic picture and the health of Swindon's local economy. The mood was upbeat, with businesses positive about the potential in Swindon and the general direction of the economy.
Justin spoke about the 1.25 million new jobs created since the election, as well as some of the help to get people, particularly young people, into work. The support the Government is putting in place to support small businesses was also discussed and welcomed.
Speaking at the event, Justin said "We are re-balancing the economy and we will deliver growth. We have seen positive signs - record employment, 250,000 new start-up businesses, 500,000 extra apprenticeships and falling youth unemployment.
"The Government is rightly targeting support at small and medium sized businesses. The new National insurance changes will see the Government pick up the first £2000 of the bill for all employers, a real boost to the smaller businesses."
