North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson joined colleagues from across Westminster to attend the EFL dinner hosted by the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Football.
The event was attended by MPs, representatives from the EFL, and representatives from 25 members of the English Football League – which included Swindon Town Football Club.
The main discussion centred around the forthcoming Football Governance Bill, which aims to improve responsible club ownership and ensure the continued sustainability of football.
In addition to this, fairer financial distribution between the Premier League and the wider football pyramid was also discussed.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: “As a football fan, I am passionate about protecting clubs from irresponsible owners. We have seen the harm caused to football clubs by irresponsible owners, including Swindon Town. I also want to see clubs further down the football pyramid benefit from the profitability of Premier League Clubs and a fairer distribution of money.”
