North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson joined residents at Tadpole Garden Village to celebrate the opening of Tadpole Garden Village in Bloom ‘Thankful Village’ memorial.
The memorial is the culmination of two years of planning, navigating challenging building issues, securing donations and hard work, and Saturday’s event was an opportunity to recognise and thank everyone who had been involved.
During the event, Justin joined representative from the armed forces and veterans in laying a wreath at the memorial in honour of those who have served in the armed forces. In addition to this there was an address by Flight Sergeant Pete Welsh, who was a leading figure in the project.
The highlight of the day was a spectacular Spitfire fly-past, courtesy of a RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight – very apt with Swindon’s proud history with the Spitfire planes.
Justin Tomlinson said: “I know Tadpole Garden Village in Bloom has worked extremely hard on the memorial project, and I am delighted that it has come to fruition. I want to thank TGV In Bloom for a wonderful event, the Spitfire fly-past was incredibly impressive!”
