North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson has been made a Parliamentary Beer Champion by CAMRA and the British Beer and Pub Association for the second year in a row.
Justin has actively campaigned for repeated cuts in beer duty to support the pub & brewing industries and helped lead the campaign to secure back-to-back tax cuts, which are benefitting pub and brewers across Swindon including the excellent Arkell's
This year, Justin is supporting CAMRA’s campaign calling on the Chancellor to support the industry by at least freezing beer duty, a move that would re-affirm the Conservative Government's backing for brewers.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: “I am exceptionally proud to have received this award for the second year in a row. Our local pubs and brewers are helping create jobs & growth across Swindon and I delighted to add my support to calls for further support from the Chancellor in the Budget."
Mike Benner, Chief Executive of CAMRA, said: “This reward recognises Justin's fantastic support in the campaign to scrap the beer duty escalator. Justin really helped in drawing attention to the harm caused by the tax increases and I am delighted that once again he has helped lead the campaign to support the industry.”
Bridgid Simmonds, Chief Executive of the British Beer & Pub Association, said: “I want to thank Justin for making a huge difference in supporting the industry. Once again, he has shown his commitment to local brewers and pubs in Swindon. We are delighted to honour this achievement in the best way possible – with a great new beer!”
