Buying your own home is one of the biggest steps you can take and perhaps the single most expensive thing you will ever buy. For many, home ownership is simply out of financial reach.
Ever since the Right to Buy was introduced by the Thatcher Government, those for whom homeownership was perhaps a distant dream, it has actually become a reality.
The scheme allows Council House Tenants to purchase their Council Home at a reduced price. Stopped by Labour, the scheme was brought back by the Conservative Government in 2010.
Since then, 73 families have bought their Council House in Swindon. That is 73 families who could never have afforded to buy a house at full market rate who now have a home to call their own.
Justin said “Property ownership is a huge factor in individual security, happiness and financial security and the Right to Buy scheme is a great way to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to buy their home.
“The Right to Buy scheme sales have trebled in Swindon since new discounts were introduced and have given locals the ability to begin to climb the all-important property ladder.”
