Last week, North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson joined The FA for an exhibition in Parliament to show MPs how the organisation supports grassroots football in England.
As a not-for-profit organisation, The FA generates revenue from the England teams, The FA Cup and Wembley Stadium and invests £50 million each year in the grassroots game.
This money goes towards investing in programmes for children, including The FA Tesco Skills Programme which delivers coaching in primary schools, investing in disability football through The FA's £1.5 million Disability Football Fund as well as investing in facilities through the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund which will see more than £100 million invested into facilities over three years. Previously, Justin joined the England Blind Football Team to learn about how The FA is working with young visually impaired footballers to help them play the game they love.
Across Swindon, team like Swindon Town, Swindon Supermarine and Highworth Town are already working to encourage young people into the beautiful game, taking a lead on the FA's commitment.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: "It was a fantastic opportunity to learn a bit more about how The FA invests in local communities. In Swindon we're lucky to have so many football lovers, including myself, and I'm delighted that The FA is committed to developing the beautiful game across our town".
