Justin Calls On Residents To Support Local Branch Of Girlguiding

North Swindon MP, Justin Tomlinson, is calling on local residents to volunteer their time to support the ever-expanding Swindon branch of Girlguiding.

Guiding across North Swindon is particularly popular at present and especially strong in Priory Vale, Blunsdon and Highworth. In these areas, there are nearly 200 girls waiting to join guiding for the first time.

In these areas alone, Girlguiding have started two Rainbow units in the last year (girls aged 5–7) in Redhouse and Blunsdon, one Ranger unit (girls aged 14+) and a monthly Rainbows session in Highworth on a Sunday to allow girls on the waiting list to join in the fun. Girlguiding are also looking to strengthen these existing units with more Leaders to allow them to share the fun with more girls, as well creating new units with the support of volunteers.

Volunteering to support Girlguiding isn’t only about helping in a unit and the group offer opportunities to develop management and mentoring skills through the roles in the local team such as District Commissioner, adult leadership mentor, PR, administrators.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “I’m delighted to support the excellent work Girlguiding do; not only in Swindon & Wiltshire, but across the country. We’ve seen a huge expansion in Guiding units across the town in recent years and I’d encourage local residents to volunteer their support and get involved!”
