North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson has welcomed the news that Blunsdon Community Shop has won a prestigious award for voluntary service.
The Blunsdon Community Shop has been awarded The King’s Award for Voluntary Service in recognition of the important work its volunteers have done in the local community.
Justin has supported The Blunsdon Community Shop, and helped the, secure their new premises. Just a few weeks ago Justin met with volunteers to discuss the shop and heard about its exciting plans for the future.
As part of the nomination, Justin wrote a letter of support, and was keen to highlight the brilliant work of the volunteers.
Justin said "This is fantastic, and very well deserved. My family and I regularly visit the community shop for breakfast in the shop's cafe, and I really couldn't recommend it highly enough - especially the amazing customer service!
Businesses and volunteer led initiatives such as the Blunsdon Community Shop play such an important role in villages like Blunsdon. They add character and foster a really positive community spirit."
