Local MP Justin Tomlinson enjoyed front row seats at last week’s DPAG Awards Show which was performed by the talented youngsters from the Dorcan Performing Arts Group.
The group which was first formed in 2001, has been offering children over the age of nine the chance to learn the ins and outs of theatre production, as well as singing, dancing and acting for just £2 each week. There are 35 youngsters involved with the group which gets together every Tuesday.
The Awards Show last week was an opportunity to showcase the talents of every member of DPAG with a show that they had written and choreographed themselves. There were also vocal and dance performances of some of the best known hits in theatre and on film.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: “I am hugely supportive of any activities for youngsters outside of school and this doesn’t just include sport. What is fantastic about DPAG is that all of the youngsters enjoy it immensely and it is open to anybody who wants to join. I was delighted to attend the Awards Show and congratulate them afterwards on their fantastic achievements as it certainly takes a lot of bravery to perform live on stage. A really enjoyable evening was enjoyed by all.”
