Justin Celebrates Success Of Highworth Tennis Club At Open Day

The North Swindon MP and Chair of the Sport All Party Parliamentary Group, Justin Tomlinson, attended the Highworth Tennis Club open day on Sunday to meet the volunteers who run the club as well as a number of the new junior members.

The Club, which is based next to Highworth Rec, consists of five courts (two of which are floodlit) and run a number of coaching courses as well as private sessions available with fully qualified LTA coaches. They have a full junior programme as well as accommodate for adult beginners and improvers.

In addition, the Club enters teams in both the Summer and Winter leagues of the Swindon and District Tennis League. They also run a full calendar of summer events including comedy nights, BBQ’s and quiz nights. Full membership for the year costs £90 which provides 24 hour access to the 5 courts so members can play whenever they like.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: "It was brilliant to meet the dedicated team of volunteers who keep Highworth Tennis Club running. Both the clubhouse and courts provide an excellent location to play tennis and there is a real community feel which makes everybody - of all ages and abilities - feel very welcome. This is really important when it comes to getting more people active. It was also great to see that the club has had a boost in the number of young members since they took on new coach Simon Hennell who has taught the skills of the sport in an enjoyable way."
