Justin Continues His Campaign To Secure Superfast Fibre Broadband For North Swindon Residents

Justin Tomlinson MP and Haydon Wick Parish Councillor Vinay Manro have met with Paul Coles of BT Openreach to get an update on all outstanding works for the roll out of BT Superfast Fibre Broadband across Swindon

Since being elected in 2010 Justin has actively campaigned for increased access to Superfast Fibre Broadband. This has seen him work with resident groups like North & Rural Swindon Better Broadband, and has already resulted in securing extensive investment from internet service providers such as BT and Virgin Media.

In recent years we have seen an extensive roll out, with the vast majority of Swindon now covered.  Additional works have now been confirmed to complete the roll out in Priory Vale (Cabinets 24 and 29), and we are expecting good news for Highworth (Cabinets 12 and 13).

We continue to press for upgrades in the rural villages, including Stanton Fitzwarren, Hannington, South Marston and Castle Eaton.

Once these upgrades have been completed, residents and businesses connected to those cabinets will be able to access Superfast Fibre Broadband. This will enable people to stream high definition films, music or enjoy gaming in different parts of the home simultaneously. It will also improve online access to new professional opportunities such as research, accessing job vacancies, and will make it easier to shop around for cheaper services.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “I am delighted that things are moving forward. Increasing access to Superfast Fibre Broadband can have a huge benefit for Swindon and is an absolute priority for me.  As we have secured the extensive roll outs we have seen really strong take ups, which shows why this is such an important issue for fellow local residents and businesses.”
