Justin Encourages Teenagers To Get Cancer Symptoms Checked

North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson is joining with the Teenage Cancer Trust to encourage teenagers to get potential cancer symptoms checked.

Today marks the Teenage Cancer Trust’s second Best To Check campaign, aiming to help teenagers and young people understand the common signs and symptoms of cancer in their age group, and empower them to seek medical advice if they are concerned.

Every day in the UK, around seven young people aged 13-24 are diagnosed with cancer, and it is the leading cause of death from disease in 13-24 year olds. However, the signs and symptoms of cancers common in young people are often different from older adults – these include: lumps, unexplained tiredness, mole changes, pain, and significant weight changes with no alteration to diet or exercise.

Justin Tomlinson said: “An early diagnosis is key to improving outcomes and preventing further serious complications – which is why it is vital that younger people understand the warning signs and get them checked out as soon as possible. I am very pleased to support the Best To Check campaign, and hope that young people listen to the message.”
