Justin Helps Launch National Literacy Hub In Swindon

As former Chair of the Libraries group in Parliament, Justin Tomlinson MP was pleased to join others at the launch of the National Literacy Hub in Swindon.

The National Literacy Trust has partnered with Swindon Borough Council to establish a literacy hub in the town. The Hub will aim to bring together local partners to tackle issues in communities where low literacy levels are seriously impacting on people’s lives.

The Swindon Hub will encompass a range of programmes & activities to equip children and young people in Swindon with the literacy skills they need to succeed in life. Branded Swindon Stories, the Hub has been funded by WH Smith as part of wider work that WH Smith supports in the town, including a number of initiatives alongside Justin.

Schools, parents, businesses and other local organisations will play an important role in changing literacy attitudes and behaviours across the town.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “I have always been a big supporter of our local libraries; from chairing the library group in Parliament to launching the Summer Reading Challenge. I am delighted that WH Smith are supporting this Hub and I hope that we can all come together to utilise this fantastic resource.”
