North Swindon MP attended the launch of the first ever Concussion in Sports Guidelines in Parliament last week - hosted by Love of the Game.
The event aimed to increase awareness of the dangers accociated with sport, and how they can be minimised.
Players, parents, coaches, teachers and administrators are asked to familiarise themselves with the necessary steps to:
- RECOGNISE the signs of concussion;
- REMOVE anyone suspected of being concussed immediately and;
- RETURN safely to daily activity, education/work and, ultimately, sport.
Justin Tomlinson said:
"Concussion is a very serious issue, and it is vital that all precautions are taken to ensure the safety of player. The most important message from the event is that no-one should return to sport within 24 hours of a suspected concussion- so if in doubt sit them out!""
