Justin Highlights Success Of Link Between Swindon Carers & Better Leisure

The relationship between local carers and Better Leisure (GLL) continues to strengthen since Justin Tomlinson MP introduced the two groups last year.

Last December Justin brought together Swindon Carers Centre and Better Leisure, leading to carers in Swindon receiving a 20% discount on Health and Fitness memberships.

Swindon Carers Centre have now secured funding from Carers Trust for ‘Carers Getting Together.’ Through this funding - and the partnership with Better Leisure - they have been able to deliver much needed wellbeing sessions for carers, such as yoga classes.

One carer spoke of how just a couple of yoga classes had helped alleviate their back pain, and how grateful they were for the opportunity to try yoga.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “Carers work incredibly hard to support their loved ones. Providing activities which encourage carers to relax and focus on themselves - such as yoga – will be a huge benefit to them. I am glad that the partnership between Swindon Carers Centre and Better Leisure continues to develop, and I am pleased that I was able to facilitate this relationship.”

The Carer said: I am so pleased and incredibly grateful to Swindon Carers for giving me the opportunity to do this which I know I would not have otherwise done.”
