Justin Holds Productive Meeting With Local Branch Of Motor Neurone Disease Association

The North Swindon MP, Justin Tomlinson, has hosted a productive meeting with the fantastic local advocates from North Wiltshire. Topics up for discussion included local support and awareness for people with MND, as well as fundraising initiatives to ensure the charity remains sustainable.

Motor neurone disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting.

MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. However, not all symptoms necessarily happen to everyone and it is unlikely they will all develop at the same time, or in any specific order. Although there is currently no cure for MND, symptoms can be managed to help you achieve the best possible quality of life.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “It was great to meet my local representatives from the MNDA. Although there is not currently a cure for MND, there is still plenty that society can do to ensure that people with this horrible disease have the best possible quality of life. I was very impressed by our local branch and their business-minded approach to ensuring that adequate care provision for MND sufferers is provided locally.”
