Justin Tomlinson MP, in partnership with the Zurich Community Trust, has hosted a celebration evening for Swindon’s voluntary sector at his office on the Orbital Retail Park in North Swindon.
Representatives from different charities were present and the evening was focused on celebrating volunteers and saying thank you to those who give up their time in order to contribute to the local community. Justin Tomlinson, MP for North Swindon, was joined by South Swindon MP Robert Buckland, the Head of ZCT Pam Webb and Lord Joffe, one of the founding directors of the Zurich Community Trust.
The evening provided plenty of opportunity for people to network, chat and enjoy some food and drink. Justin and the trust were considerably helped on the night by some of the fantastic helpers from the Swindon Open Door Centre, who were on hand to welcome people in and help with the refreshments.
Zurich Community Trust is a registered charity which is funded by an annual donation from the Zurich UK businesses and by generous donations from Zurich's UK employees. Since its creation in 1973, the Trust has donated over £65 million. Last year they delivered £2.8 million of charitable activities and, through the full range of its programmes, improved the quality of life of over 100,000 disadvantaged people.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: “The Zurich Community Trust have made a huge contribution to the local community since its inception and we are extremely lucky to have them. It was a real joy to have so many different charities at our celebration evening and it was a great opportunity for myself and other representatives of Swindon to say a big thank you.”
