Justin Hosts Latest Meeting With Swindon Climate Action Network

Justin regularly meets with the group, made up of local residents from across the town, to hear their ideas & concerns about environmental issues and to provide updates on the work the Government is doing.

Top of the agenda was transport, and the ways to make vehicles more energy efficient. SCAN suggested that whilst there had been plenty of innovation with electric cars, they would like to see more done to create electric vans. They also want to see more electric buses, a goal which is shared by the Government.

The group welcomed Justin, and the Government’s, recent work on environmental issues – such as banning plastic straws and extending the plastic bag charge – and suggested ways that this strong record could be developed even further.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “I’m very pleased that SCAN continue to engage with me on these incredibly important issues. The Government is absolutely focused on ensuring that we put policies in place which will safeguard our environment and protect our planet. This issue has never been so high on the agenda and it is absolutely vital that we take action now.”
