On the 6th June, Justin Tomlinson joined the Highworth community in commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day. A wreath was laid at the memorial at St Michael’s Church followed by an exhibition in the community room at Highworth Town Council.
On the D-Day anniversary itself, Justin commented, “Today marks 80 years since the D-Day landings on the 6th June 1944. 80 years since allied forces arrived in Normandy to liberate France & Western Europe from the Nazis. 80 years since those brave troops made the ultimate sacrifice.
We can never understate what we owe to those who gave their life for us. Never, ever forget. Today is about them - think about them whatever you are doing.”
