Justin Tomlinson MP was recently invited to this year's Swindon and Wiltshire Action for Property meeting, where he delivered a speech to local developers on a wide range of topics, from planning to local success stories where development has been successful.
He highlighted the news that local authorities can now increase the amount of money charged with planning applications - but emphasized the need for authorities to ensure that those funds are used to help speed up and improve resources for the planning departments.
Justin has a long history of working proactively with housebuilders, including working closely with developers and residents to deliver Tadpole Garden Village. This is a fantastic new development in north Swindon that successfully navigated the planning process without having to go to appeal.
Looking forward, he talked about the importance of planners and developers using biodiversity offset schemes to help deliver sustainable high quality developments. He also emphasized the need for banks to assist young people getting onto the housing market with innovative mortgage products.
