North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson was delighted to join local residents Lee and Sarah Bladen at their huge fundraising dinner for the disability charity PhabKids.
The first Phab project began in 1957, and for nearly 60 years the charity has encouraged and supported children and adults with and without disabilities to make more of life together. The Phab team spend time raising funds to support a network of clubs across England and Wales offering lots of great activities which members of all ages and abilities can share and enjoy together. There are Phab clubs in all age ranges from under 8’s to over 80’s right across England and Wales.
Local residents Lee and Sarah moved to the Northern Sector from Reading a few years and both entered in to run the London marathon. Unfortunately due to injury Sarah is unable to run in April, but Lee has well and truly taken up the challenge and has picked PhabKids as his chosen charity. As part of Lee’s fundraising initiatives, the couple hosted a dinner and dance event at Shaw Ridge where they sold tickets and put on a raffle and auction.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: “It was great to join Lee, Sarah and their supportive friends on Saturday evening to help raise money for Lee’s incredible fundraising efforts. PhabKids is a fantastic charity which goes to extra lengths to promote inclusion between disabled people and non-disabled people and it was great to meet representatives of the charity. If you’re still looking to sponsor somebody running the marathon, then I would certainly recommend sponsoring Lee, who is going to extraordinary lengths to raise money and make a real difference.”
