North Swindon MP, Justin Tomlinson, supported students taking part in the National Citizen Service programme by joining them at their book launch and charity event in aid of the Rainbow Trust.
National Citizen Service is an scheme that teaches essential life skills and works to foster links and understanding between young people from different backgrounds. A key focus is on charity and community work. The students organised a fun-filled evening with a cake sale, raffle and live entertainment in aid of the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity. The charity provides essential emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness.
Justin has been a active advocate of the NCS concept for a number of years, visiting groups participating across Swindon every year and championing their efforts in Parliament.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: “It’s great to see young people trying to make a difference in their local community and wanting to give something back. NCS is an incredible opportunity for young people and I am always happy to back events they organise in support of charities that help Swindon residents.”
Erica, one of the organisers, said: “We want to give the Rainbow Trust a little something back and raise awareness to show people that they are not alone in difficult times.”
