Justin Tomlinson MP has joined TV legend John Craven to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first episode of the BBC programme Countryfile.
Countryfile is a weekly programme, which airs on BBC One every Sunday and reports on rural, agricultural, & environmental issues in the United Kingdom. Over the years, the programme has provided a window into rural life for people across the country, and educated people on issues including farming & climate change.
The programme is one of the most viewed on television at present, regularly drawing in more than 5 million viewers.
As part of the celebration, Justin was able to see a preview of a special Countryfile series coming out later this year entitled 'Queen and Country'. The series filmed, with the permission of Her Majesty The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, shows the work done on the Royal Estates at Windsor, Balmoral and Sandringham.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: "It was a pleasure to join the legendary John Craven and the rest of the Countryfile team to celebrate the programme's 30th birthday. Countryfile is a national institution, providing a window into rural life & our environment every Sunday evening. It has played an important part in educating and informing people across the country for 30 years and it continues to go from strength to strength - regularly drawing in huge viewing figures."
