North Swindon MP, Justin Tomlinson, has joined the Swindon branch of Animals Asia on the 'Walk to Freedom' - a fundraising walk around Peatmoor.
Animals Asia have just taken over a bear farm in Nanning, China where 130 bears have been kept in terrible conditions for many years and been milked for their bile. The charity is now in the process of converting the farm into a sanctuary and has been raising funds to support its development.
The 'Walk to Freedom' is an annual charity walk around Peatmoor Lagoon and Shaw Forest and this year raised more than £500.
Justin and his wife, Jo, are active supporters of Animal Asia and last year organised a quiz night and fish & chip supper at Swindon Supermarine FC to raise more than £700 for the charity. Photos and more information about the quiz night can be found here.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: "It is always a pleasure to help Animals Asia in their pursuit to protect the welfare of animals across the Asian Continent. Both Jo and I have played an active role in fundraising for the group and the Walk to Freedom is another great annual event that helps the charity to raise much needed funds to care for bears and other animals".
