Justin Joins Wiltshire's Chief Constable On The Beat In Swindon

This week Justin Tomlinson MP joined Wiltshire Police Chief Constable Kier Pritchard out on the beat, as they covered over 12,00 steps across Pinehurst, Penhill, Rodbourne Cheney, Gorse Hill & Upper Stratton.

Kier was previously a police officer in Swindon, and both he & Justin discussed the ever-increasing complexities of wider policing as well as the local community policing model. In particular, they talked about the increasing pressures which the police have to face today compared to a decade ago (including safe-guarding issues, counter-terrorism & incidents like Salisbury) as well as the powers that the police need to confront these challenges.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “It was good to join Kier on a two hour patrol across different communities, and discuss local & national policing challenges and opportunities. I was very impressed with his knowledge and experience of Swindon, and it was good to also discuss how my office can continue to work alongside the local police.”
