North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson, joined people across the world to celebrate World Book Day.
World Book Day was created by UNESCO on 23rd April 1995 as a worldwide celebration of books and reading. World Book Day is marked in over 100 countries around the globe.
The aim of WBD is to promote reading for pleasure and offer every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own.
Justin has been a passionate champion of child literacy and encouraging a love of reading throughout his time as an MP. He has spoken on the issue a number of times in Parliament, and was even Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Libraries.
Justin Tomlinson MP Said: “I am a huge believer in the power of books to change lives. Studies have shown reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success – more than their family circumstances, their parents’ educational backgrounds or their income.
Initiatives like World Book Day are vital to foster a love of reading and unlocking the potential of children”
