Now that the General Election campaign has officially begun, I wanted to ask you to re-elect me as your local MP for North Swindon on Thursday 7th May. Since 2010, I have been fighting hard for Swindon with my friend and colleague in South Swindon, Robert Buckland.
As your representative, I have been a:
- Highly visible and approachable fellow local resident
- Tireless champion of Swindon - securing investment & new jobs
- Representative who always puts residents first - voted 3rd most helpful MP
- Supporter of local charities charities & organisations - helping to raise over £100,000
- Hardworking MP with one of the highest voting & speaking records in Parliament
- Strong voice for Swindon, proudly supported by residents of all political persuasions
In Swindon the Conservative-led Government is making a difference:
Since 2010, 86,074 people in Swindon have received an income tax cut. Unemployment has fallen by over 60%, with 8,100 more people now in work and 7,010 new apprentices. We have seen 5,345 new start-up businesses and the £30m Regent Circus development kick-starting regeneration alongside the £140m of local infrastructure funding.
We have secured £10m extra funding for Swindon's schools through the Pupil Premium, a further £4.3m the new fairer funding formula and the new £10m University Technical College. Youth unemployment is now down 64%, traditionally the hardest area to tackle.
I have also led the successful campaigns to secure the new Secondary School for North Swindon and the new Speedway Stadium; a welcome boost for our local community.
Swindon is a town on the up - I have shown I have the energy, enthusiasm and determination to make a difference. Please give me the chance to carry on the hard work.
