Justin Learns More About The Open University's Support For Students With Disabilities

With the highest number of students with a declared disability in the country, Justin Tomlinson MP met with the Open University to discuss the work that they are doing to support disabled students.

Having met with the Open University before to hear about their work in Swindon, Justin was keen to discuss how university institutions are best able to support disabled students, as part of his role as Minister for Disabled People. They discussed how the OU works to support the over 20,000 students studying with the institution who have a declared disability as well as the work the OU does with the Government on access to higher education.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “It is always a pleasure to meet with the Open University to discuss their work and the innovative ways that they are extending access to higher education. The OU has over 20,000 students with a declared disability currently studying for a qualification, a figure higher than the total number of undergraduates at some universities across the country, and it is successfully championing new ways to ensure that every student can access the resources and teaching they need to succeed. I look forward to continuing to work closely with the OU on matters both local and nationally."
