With restrictions eased to allow pubs to serve customers indoors, Justin took the opportunity to meet with Arkell’s Brewery Chairman James Arkell and Managing Director George Arkell to show his support for local pubs.
Arkell’s Brewery has a long history in Swindon, having opened its Kingsdown Brewery in 1843. The company has developed significantly over the last 187 years and boasts a large number of pubs in Swindon and the surrounding area.
During the meeting Justin, James and George discussed the impact the last year has had on pubs, the support the Government made available to them throughout the pandemic, and how the Government and hospitality industry can work together to recover strongly.
Justin said: “I know how rough the last year has been on pubs and the wider hospitality industry, and I am enormously grateful for the sacrifices the industry has made. Over the past few weeks it has been fantastic to see so many people return to pubs, bars and restaurants – it is so important that we continue to give them our support. It was wonderful to speak to James and George, and get a better understanding of their experiences over the last year and their plans for the future.”
