North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinsin met with members of the Ukrainian Community to express his support for Ukraine following the invasion by Russia.
Justin Tomlinson said:
"I am so grateful for the Ukrainian & Polish communities for meeting with me today. We discussed the ongoing conflict and together we are:
-
Working to establish a coordinated, local response to the humanitarian crisis, by working with Swindon Borough Council, local businesses, volunteers & others to process donations & support.
-
Promote the British Red Cross appeal as the best way for people to make a donation so that the right support gets to where it is needed the most: https://donate.redcross.org.uk/appeal/ukraine-crisis-appeal
-
Providing support to Ukrainians fleeing the conflict as the UK looks to welcome refugees through the Family Scheme and the Humanitarian Pathway which together looks to welcome hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians should they wish to come here.
-
Making sure that the voice of Swindon's Ukrainian community is heard at the highest levels as the UK looks to provide whatever support it can including militarily, humanitarian & providing refuge."
