North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson met with representatives from Panattoni, to hear about the companies plans to bring £700 million investment to Swindon following its purchase of the Honda site.
After the devastating news that Honda had chosen to close, Justin was delighted to hear Swindon had a new opportunity with Panattoni, recognising Swindon’s reputation as a fast-growing location for investors and businesses to build in.
Swindon will benefit massively from this development which will bring 7000 jobs in what they described as “a world class business park aesthetic surrounded with waterfalls and trees.” Justin was further in favour of the development after hearing the plans to maintain the solar power as well as an ambition to become net carbon zero - this is something everyone in the company is keen to pursue.
Swindon is the largest investment that the company has made, and the plans will help Swindon develop economically and keep up with the competing business world.
The development will not only allocate spaces for big globally known companies but will also allocate smaller local businesses allowing for business diversity and for local businesses to have the same opportunities to grow.
Justin Tomlinson said:
“I am thrilled Panatonni has taken on the Honda site, their interests are very positive for Swindon’s future with growth, economy and employment at the heart of the plans. Whilst the news of Honda closing marks the end of an era, the plans for the site are very exciting and I look forward to how it develops.”
