Local MP Justin Tomlinson was paid a visit at his office by Callum, Raneem and Sophie of Year 6 at Haydonleigh Primary School.
The youngsters had originally invited Justin to the school, which he did during Parliament Week. He then returned the invitation as the pupils were keen to see how an MP’s office works, and to tell Justin about their new outdoor library at the school.
They also asked questions about Parliament and talked about many subjects including Swindon, reading & sports. The group also discussed the issue of decriminalising drugs; a conversation that ended with the pupils lobbying Justin to ensure that drugs remain illegal!
Justin Tomlinson MP said: “Sophie, Raneem and Callum were all very engaging and I was delighted to show them how an MP's office works. They all have very bright futures ahead of them as they were particularly good at lobbying me on the issues that matter to them!”
