Justin Tomlinson MP has welcomed students from Oakhurst School to Parliament to learn more about his role as their MP.
The students were in Westminster as part of a visit organised by the Parliament Education Service, which introduces young people to politics and the political process. During the visit, students get the opportunity to tour Parliament (seeing the House of Commons & the House of Lords chambers), learn about elections and meet with the MP.
Following the tour, Justin took the opportunity to speak to the student; explaining what he does as a fellow North Swindon resident to represent them in Parliament, and answering questions from the group about being an MP and his interests outside of politics.
Justin regularly meets with school groups visiting Parliament and also visits each school in North Swindon to give an interactive assembly where students get the opportunity to pass their very own School Parliamentary Bill.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: "It was fantastic to meet with some of the students from Oakhurst who were visiting Parliament. As the MP, I have visited every school in North Swindon to talk to students about my role as their MP and give an assembly about Parliament. These visits give young people the chance to Parliament at work and I'd encourage as many local schools as possible to look into these visits."
