Justin Opens New Orbital Shopping Park Play Area Inspired By Town's Heritage

North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson has joined local parents & children to officially open the Orbital Shopping Park's new aviation-themed play area, inspired by Swindon’s engineering heritage.

Located in the main customer area, the playground is free to use and open daily. It features a climbing frame designed as a plane, with a ‘control tower’, rope bridge and slide.

The project is part of a multi-million pound investment at Orbital by its owner, British Land, which has resulted in a host of upgrades to its customer facilities including customer toilets with full disabled and parent and child facilities. Retailers Nando’s and EE are also set to open later this year.

Justin moved his constituency office from the town centre to the Orbital Shopping Park in two years ago, and has hosted more than 100 events for local charities & organisations in the community space on the first floor of the Customer Service Hub.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “This will be a fantastic & very popular new facility for local parents, and I am thrilled that the design reflects Swindon’s proud heritage. I know that the Orbital draws local residents from across the town and continues to bring in major stores. A big thanks to British Land for their continued investment.”

Jamie Turner, Centre Manager of Orbital, said: “The playground is a great addition to Orbital and our community. It was brilliant to see the children enjoying themselves this morning and we hope the playground will provide local families with a space to spend quality time together.”
