Justin has paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II following the sad news of her death earlier today.
He said:
I am in Parliament today to honour our late Queen.
The global outpouring of grief is testament to the remarkable monarch she was.
We feel a sense of great loss when we lose something which has been a constant throughout our lives. That’s why so many people in Swindon and across the country feel a profound sense of loss today.
I will always think about the words she said in her early twenties dedicating her life to the service of our country. She certainly fulfilled her promise, and we will always remember her as the very best of public service.
Many in Swindon will have their own memories of the Queen. And no matter who you were – whether a head of state or a charity volunteer, she was personable, endearing and always had a quick wit.
We shall miss you greatly Ma’am, and as Paddington Bear said, thank you for everything.
