Justin Speaks Up For Scouts At National Event

Local MP, Justin Tomlinson, was the guest speaker for nearly 100 Scouts from across the UK at a national “Scouts Speak Up” event.

Justin has worked previously with the Scouts Association, both on a local and a national level, and this was the second time the North Swindon MP had been invited to address the national conference. Scouts Speak Up events provide Scouts with a valuable opportunity to talk to their MPs about the issues that affect them both locally and nationally, allowing them to discuss how they can actively help positive change happen.

Justin was later joined by Swindon Borough Council leader, Cllr. David Renard, who has worked tirelessly for local Scout groups across Swindon and Wiltshire.

Justin Tomlinson MP said, “Scouts provide a fantastic service to their local communities. If it was down to me I would hand over the provision of youth services to organisations, like the Scouts, who have their finger on the pulse of what activities actually connect with young people today”.

Daniel Lewis, a Young Leader, said: “I really enjoyed talking to MPs who care about our hopes for the future and views on issues that are currently affecting us. I was eager to make good use of this opportunity to discuss ways in which my friends and I can improve our community and help make a difference”.
