North Swindon MP, Justin Tomlinson, joined local residents as well as staff from local firm Excalibur for a world record attempt to raise funds for a dedicated teenage cancer unit in the south west.
The event, held at the David Lloyd Health Centre on Thamesdown Drive, formed part of Excalibur's commitment to raise £50,000 to fund the new unit for the region at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. The unit will provide greater access to specialist care for teenage cancer sufferers across the south west and will build on the excellent care already provided at the John Radcliffe Hospital and the forthcoming specialist radiotherapy centre at the Great Western Hospital.
The record attempt involved trying to include the highest number of people in a Swiss ball exercise class. Justin acted as umpire and adjudicator for the record attempt.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: "I was delighted to support this fantastic initiative with the aim of raising funds to develop a dedicated teenage cancer unit in the south west. Excalibur's ambition to raise £50,000 is commendable and although on this occasion we didn't break the world record, I know that James and his team will come back with another fundraising challenge in the future!"
