North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson has thanked residents after a very generous response to the Swindon Women’s Aid Domestic Abuse Support (SDASS) Service Easter Egg Collection.
To ensure that families who find themselves in the refuge can also enjoy the Easter festivities, Justin and the SDASS joined forces and asked people to donate Easter Eggs. These eggs will then be distributed to families supported by the charity, both at the refuge and in the community. To help with the collection of the eggs, Justin offered his office as a collection point and helped SDASS publicise the initiative.
This was the second time the pair had joined forces to hold an Easter Egg Collection, following the success of last year’s appeal. The response this year was similarly generous, with dozens of people kindly donating eggs.
Justin Tomlinson said: “I am again overwhelmed by the generosity of the people in Swindon - it was amazing to see so many eggs being donated. Whilst many of us will be enjoying the beginning of Spring and the Easter period, things will be a little less bright for families living in the refuge or otherwise supported by the Domestic Abuse Support Service. As such, I want to thank everyone who contributed to the collection - every donation will bring about a much-needed moment of positivity which will brighten someone’s day.”
