Justin To Host Event With CareHome Volunteers To Provide More Support For Older People

North Swindon MP, Justin Tomlinson, is to host an event at his community office to recruit volunteers to support people living in care homes.

CareHome Volunteers was established in 2013 as an independent charity, to recruit, train and support volunteers to provide social contact and friendship to older individuals living in care homes.

After successful launches in Salisbury and Chippenham, the charity is now looking to begin working in Swindon, and will be holding a launch event for potential volunteers to find out more about the work it does. The event will be held at the Orbital Park Community Office, on Wednesday 28th February, from 10am to 2pm.

No previous experience is required, and training and support will be an integral part of the service. Even if volunteers only have a small amount of time to spare, they can still greatly enrich lives, and enhance the wellbeing and health for older people in care homes.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “I am delighted to be able to help CareHome Volunteers launch their project in Swindon. The charity and its volunteers do brilliant work to support older people in care home. I would encourage anyone who might be interested in working with CareHome Volunteers to come along and find out how they can get involved.”
