Justin To Host Innovative 'Reverse Jobs Fair' As He Leads National Campaign

Swindon is set to host a new 'Reverse Jobs Fair' to fill vacancies with local employers, leading the way on behalf of a national 'Disability Confident' campaign.

North Swindon MP and Minister for Disabled People, Justin Tomlinson, is hosting an event next week on Friday 23 October at the STEAM museum in Swindon with the aim to create tangible employment opportunities for local disabled people.

Currently there is a huge gap between the UK employment rate of disabled and non-disabled people – over 30%. This government has committed to halve the disability employment gap to give more disabled people a chance to flourish in work.

Justin has personally developed a template for a ‘Reverse Jobs Fair’ where local representatives from over 70 local businesses – both major employers and SMEs - are set to attend to match up their recruitment needs with specialist disabled recruiters.

Part of Justin’s aim is to highlight examples of successful disabled employment to challenge employer misconceptions and show the value that Disabled People can bring to businesses, particularly with record levels of employment.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “I am incredibly excited to be hosting this flagship Disability Confident event right here in Swindon. I have asked a whole host of local employers to attend to hear from the fantastic organisations who help to improve the lives of those living with disabilities. This event will form a key part of the government’s goal of getting around 1m more disabled people into employment, and I couldn’t be prouder that it’s taking place in my own constituency.”
