Justin Tomlinson MP and fiancee Jo Wheeler with Outnumbered star Claire Skinner
Justin Tomlinson MP attended a parliamentary reception hosted by the Performers' Alliance Group, a parliamentary pressure group that aims to raise the profile of performers issues amongst Parliamentarians.
The event was an excellent opportunity for MPs and Peers to mingle among actors and atrists from the stage, the big screen and the small screen to discuss issues of current concern to this industry. Such topics included intellectual property rights and the 2003 Licensing Act. The reception saw speeches from Minister Ed Vaizey and his Shadow counterpart Harriet Harman.
Justin Tomlinson MP said "Britain is renouned worldwide for the quality of the theatre, film and television that it produces and that is fantastic. To have global recognition within an industry is a real achievement and we must encourage other industries to achieve the same. It is useful to hear today first hand the issues within this vital industry that may impede its success in the future so that we can do all we can to ensure the continued success of our actors, producers, directors and their work."
