Justin Tomlinson MP Attends Retail And Leisure Meeting

Justin Tomlinson MP today joined representatives and business owners from the world of retail and leisure in Swindon at the quarterly meeting of the retail and leisure group.

The group includes organisations like inSwindon, GWE Business West and Swindon Borough Council as well as local hotels, restaurants and retailers. It meets quarterly to discuss the outlook for retail and leisure in Swindon and the strategic thinking required to secure success for our Town.

Discussion focused on the £65m investment in the Oasis that will transform it into a regional leisure destination expected to attract as many as a million visitors a month. Infrastructure will be key to its success and, crucially, the need to link it both to the Outlet Centre and Town Centre to secure secondary spend.

Justin Tomlinson MP said "This working group serves a vital role in securing the future of our town centre. Having all the key parties around a table as the key regeneration projects come forward is crucial if we are to build a coherent identity for a regenerated Swindon and attract shoppers.

"Linking the Outlet, Oasis and Town Centre will be crucial and I am glad to see some really innovative thinking around how we do this."
