Justin Tomlinson MP Attends Swindon Retailers Forum

Justin Tomlinson MP at a retailers' forum last year

Justin Tomlinson MP today joined Swindon’s key retailers and hoteliers at the quarterly retailers’ forum.

The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the current shape of retail and business in the town and how Swindon’s Town Centre can be secured for the future.

Discussion focused around Swindon’s bid to be one of the 12 Mary Portas pilot towns and the positive ideas that have emerged as a part of the process, including how these can be implemented whether Swindon’s bid is successful or not.

Justin Tomlinson MP updated local retailers with his work in Swindon and in Westminster to help push the issue of the future of our Town Centres, including his new campaign to encourage young entrepreneurs.

Justin Tomlinson MP said “These meetings are an excellent opportunity for all the key players in Swindon’s Town Centre to sit around a table and discuss how we can secure the future of our High Street.

“I for one am keen to see more young people starting and running their own businesses, filling our empty shops and re-vitalising our High Street. That is why I have secured a deal between New College and the Blunsdon Market to enable young enterprise students to get a taste of business in the real world. This is a project I hope to see grow to extend to our Town Centre in the future and I was pleased by the positive reception it received at today’s meeting.”
