North Swindon MP, Justin Tomlinson spoke recently on his own love of reading and the importance of reading books for World Book Day 2021.
World Book Day was set up as a charity established by writers and publishers to promote reading as a great pleasure and life skill. One of their main aims is that every child regardless of their circumstances can have a book of their own.
Justin also highlighted the charities excellent website and encouraged residents in North Swindon to take a look themselves. Which includes numerous resources and ways to get involved for anyone who might be interest. This includes a list of books that are available at £1 and free written material and audiobooks.
The annual event, which is marked in over 100 countries and recognised by UNESCO as a global celebration of books. It is usually accompanied in schools by themes of literature, visits by authors and can include dressing up as characters, words and even books themselves.
North Swindon MP, Justin Tomlinson said:
“It was great to read out one of my daughter's favourite books to a fantastic local nursery in a recent virtual story-telling session.”
