Justin Tomlinson MP today joined over 1400 fellow local residents at a pre-season friendly between Swindon Town FC and Swindon Supermarine FC at Supermarine's ground near South Marston.
The annual friendly is a key fundraising event for Supermarine, with gate money and the proceeds from food/drink sales providing a real financial boost for the Club. With Swindon Town's fixture diary so hectic, Justin was happy to help push for this annual friendly to remain.
Justin Tomlinson MP said "This is a fantatsic event in Swindon's sporting calendar. I am a keen supporter of both of our local teams and this is an unique opportunity to see our two local teams on the same pitch. In particular this is a real boost to Swindon Supermarine, with the money raised crucial to the club.
"The players on both teams played really well and we had a match of great football, with Swindon Town just clinching a 1-0 win. The turnout was brilliant and there was a great atmosphere at the ground - an enjoyable night for everyone."
