Justin Tomlinson MP Cuts The Ribbon At Official Opening Of STEAM Sci-Fi Exhibition

Justin Tomlinson MP officially opens the Sci-Fi exhibition at STEAM

Justin Tomlinson MP today cut the ribbon to mark the official opening of the Sci-Fi exhibition at Swindon’s STEAM museum.

The exhibition shows only a fraction of a remarkable collection of sci-fi film memorabilia collected over the years by local Swindonian, Luke Skywalker.

With something to appeal to both children and adults, the exhibition includes original costumes and props from the Star Wars, Terminator, Gremlins and Iron Man series, plus many life-sized character figures. The exhibition also includes Spiderman, Power Rangers, Star Trek and Harry Potter.

Justin also looked around the main museum at STEAM, including their ‘Royal Road’ exhibition that explores the Great Western Railway’s royal connections to mark the Golden Jubilee and photographic exhibition ‘Nine’ put on by 9 HND students from Swindon College.

Justin Tomlinson MP said “This is a remarkable and unique collection of sci-fi memorabilia and where better to display it than at Swindon’s very own museum. STEAM is a fantastic local asset that tells the story of Swindon’s historical role in the Great Western Railway. I urge everyone to come and look around the exhibition, and to visit some of STEAM’s other attractions while they are here.”

The exhibition runs until the 20th May and tickets can be booked online at: http://www.steam-museum.org.uk/steam/steam-gwr175/scifiatsteam.htm
