Justin Tomlinson MP Hosts Motor Neurone Disease Association Event

Local MP Justin Tomlinson has hosted a special day of meetings for the Motor Neurone Disease Association at his Orbital Community Office.

The day featured a number of talks and presentations on the support and care that is available for those with MND as well as the people who care for them.

Motor Neurone disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting.

MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. However, not all symptoms necessarily happen to everyone and it is unlikely they will all develop at the same time, or in any specific order. Although there is currently no cure for MND, symptoms can be managed to help an individual achieve the best possible quality of life.

Justin Tomlinson MP said: "It was fantastic to host the Motor Neurone Disease Special Interest group at my office today for a number of talks and presentations on the support and care that is available for those with MND as well as the people who care for them. A big thank you to the local MND Association and the other organisations who attended for making this brilliant event happen".
