Justin Tomlinson MP presents The Curry Place owner Mr Ali with the award
North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson will be presenting an award to a local Indian Restaurant which has been judged as one of the best in the region.
The Curry Place in Rodbourne Road was Highly Commended in the 2011 Tiffin Cup after being nominated by Justin in the prestigious national competition.
The Tiffin Cup is an annual British competition run by the Tiffin Club to find the best South Asian restaurant in the United Kingdom. Nominees are selected by their constituency and then put forward by their local MPs. One restaurant from every region is then shortlisted and invited to participate in the Grand Final cook-off event held in the House of Commons, as judged by MPs and guest celebrities, with the proceeds going to a selected charity.
Justin said, “I’m delighted that The Curry Place has done so well. Competition is really fierce and there are so many good Indian Restaurants in North Swindon. It was difficult to know which to nominate in the first place but The Curry Place was recommended to me by lots of people. But with all the competition, to have received the Highly Commended status from the regional judges is a real achievement for The Curry Place”.
